This Week in the Jazz Department: Musician's Show with Kevin Shea
Submitted by Jacob Sunshine on Wed, 18 Jan 2012, 1:39am
Join us on Wednesday Evening (January 18th) from 6-9 PM to hear Drummer and Composer Kevin Shea spinning some of his favorite tunes from the jazz world and other genres. An innovative and free-minded drummer, Shea has always imbued his playing with a humor and flexibility that few in the jazz world have been able to match. While perhaps best known for his work with the band Mostly Other People Do The Killing, Shea has played on a host of other projects in the Avant-Garde, Jazz, and other genres, including works by Rhys Chatham, Mary Halvorson, Peter Evans, Alan Wilkinson, and the group Talibam! Tune in for an eclectic and fascinating set of music as Shea discusses his own work, as well as music that informs his playing and compositions.
