Narrative Medicine Workshops For Pre-Health Students (2/12)

What: A six-week introductory workshop in narrative medicine, a field where medical practitioners strengthen clinical practice with narrative competence. The sessions will focus on re-conceptualizing empathy, narrative ethics, bearing witness, and illness narratives. Workshops will offer firsthand experience in close reading, reflective writing, and autobiographical exercises.
Who: Space for 12 Columbia pre-health career students able to attend all 6 sessions; no prior experience in creative writing or literature necessary!
When & Where: 6 sessions, Wednesdays from 7.30-9 pm: Feb 26th, March 5, 12 & 26, April 2 & 9, 2014 (no session during Spring Break). Workshops will be held on Columbia’s Morningside Campus. Precise location TBD.
