International @ Columbia Spring Break Outings

International @ Columbia is hosting two outings in New York City this Spring Break. On Monday, March 16, we will be going to visit the Museum of Sex for a guided tour of their current exhibitions. On Tuesday, March 17, we will be visiting the Universal Hip Hop Museum for a guided tour. Lunch and transportation will be provided.

Both outings are open to all Columbia College and Columbia Engineering undergraduates. Please note that the capacity for each trip is 20 people, but a wait-list will be available. The deadline to register is Wednesday, March 12.

Accessibility: Please note that your attendance requires an amount of physical ability (stairs for taking the subway, standing for several hours and walking around the museum).

Museum of Sex

Anchored by excerpts from Audre Lorde’s “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power”, attendees will be guided through a discourse on desire and the role that culture plays in determining our conceptions of pleasure and eroticism. This conversation will be conducted over a complimentary lunch and followed by a free guided tour of the Museum of Sex.

Universal Hip Hop Museum

Hip-Hop has had quite the journey from its beginnings in the heart of the Bronx to its current place on the global stage. International @ Columbia would like to welcome students on a free trip to the Universal Hip Hop Museum to get acquainted with hip hop culture, explore its origins and appreciate the cultural impact it has had both locally and internationally since its inception.
