Cindy is being recognized for her dedication to promoting educational and socioeconomic equality, both within the Columbia University community and beyond. As a senior at the college, her academic interests in macroeconomics and postcolonial history have driven her to extend her passion to actionable initiatives beyond the university gates. Since 2020, Cindy has closely worked with educational NGOs dedicated to ensuring equal access to quality education in rural areas of her home country, focusing on empowering students and teachers in low-income regions. As a beneficiary of the educational opportunities she has been fortunate enough to receive, Cindy is committed to living by the mission statement of making education a force that unites people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
