Award Recognition

School of Engineering and Applied Science Scholar Athlete Award
Sameer is being celebrated by Columbia Engineering for his outstanding achievements both as a varsity athlete and academic scholar. Arriving at Columbia as one of the nation's top squash players, he led the varsity squash team to a #6 national rank and a Hoehn Cup title while serving as captain during both his junior and senior years. Academically, Sameer has excelled in computer science and operations research, applying his technical expertise to benefit the community. In his first year, he co-founded Studbud, a machine learning platform facilitating the formation of study groups during the pandemic. Additionally, in 2022, he spearheaded the development of a web platform for the launch of Columbia Business School's "Python for Managers" course. Over the past two years, Sameer also co-founded and directed the Product Management Fellowship, which has now taught close to one hundred Columbia students how to break into the competitive field of tech product management. Sameer's professional journey is equally impressive, including work in AI and software development at leading tech companies such as Palantir and NVIDIA.
I'm incredibly honored to receive the Engineering Scholar Athlete award. Firstly, thank you to my coaches and professors for their unwavering support and guidance. To my teammates, thank you so much for pushing me to excel every day at practice and for making these past four years absolutely unforgettable. Lastly, thank you to my friends, family, and most importantly, my parents for always being there and lifting me up whenever I faced difficult challenges.
