Welcome to the West Campus Residential Area of Columbia University! West Campus, as the name indicates, takes up a large portion of the most westerly point of the campus and is surrounded by Lerner Hall, Hillel, the Hudson River, and Riverside Park. Over 1200 students live in this residential area, which consists of Schapiro, 47 Claremont, Woodbridge, River, 604 and 606 W. 114th (two brownstones), 600 W. 113 st, Harmony and Carlton Arms residence halls. Overseeing the area is Darleny Cepin, Associate Director for the Office of Residential Programs. Darleny's office is located in Broadway Residence Hall, Suite 103. You may also reach her via phone at 212-854-7126 and via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Feel free to stop by with any ideas, concerns or questions.
West Campus is also home to the first year cohort of 3/2 students, four Special Interest Communities and a dynamic, dedicated and enthusiastic Residential Programs staff that is committed to building strong relationships and building the Columbia community as a whole. The Residential Programs staff consists of an Associate Director, three Graduate Hall Directors, twenty seven Resident Advisers, two Community Advisers and a Faculty in Residence, Professor Samuel Roberts. Together, these individuals work along side West Campus residents to make their academic year experience one that is as rewarding and successful as possible.
Community is key in the West Campus area. People have taken great pride in decorating and maintaining their community spaces. Study breaks have been innovative and fun as students study in their PJs over cereal and Saturday Morning Cartoons. Community Standards are continually being discussed and re-evaluated and the Residential Programs staff has taken on their role with much enthusiasm and constantly looks for innovative ideas and events.
