Emily Pinkerton on Afternoon New Music

Wednesday, November 29, 2017 - 3:00pm to 6:00pm

Tune in to Afternoon New Music this Wednesday, November 29 at 3pm ET to hear an interview and stripped down performance with Emily Pinkerton in advance of her album release show at National Sawdust on November 30th. The new album, Rounder Songs, from NOW Ensemble, Emily Pinkerton, and Patrick Burke, is a song cycle for voice, banjo and chamber ensemble that brings together the sounds of 21st century post-minimalist classical music and North American old-time. The work is based on public domain songs and legends from Kentucky and West Virginia that tell the stories of several “rounders”: rural drifters who include a gambler, a murderer, and a mill laborer who strikes a deal with the devil.
