Ben Allison on the Musician's Show: Wednesday April 23rd at 6pm

Tune in at 6pm this Wednesday to listen to a program selected and co-hosted by bassist Ben Allison. With over thirty years of recordings, Allison recently released his album "The Stars Look Very Different Today" in 2013 on his own record label Sonic Camera Records. Known for his distinctive sound and arranging style, Allison has collaborated with many of jazz's renowned musicians over the years, including Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Andrew Hill, and Lee Konitz, among others. After studying jazz performance and bass studies at NYU in the '80s, Allison went on to found and perform with the Jazz Composers Collective, a nonprofit, musician-run organization dedicated to creating and promoting creative spaces for artists. Since then, Allison has released numerous records as both a leader and a sideman, and continues to teach at the New School and advocate for jazz musicians in his position on the board of the New York chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
