A masterful compilation of the traditional text based on all four gospels, this work is a sequential presentation of the last seven sentences uttered by Christ. On Friday, March 18th at 7:30 PM David Hill conducts the Saint Thomas Choir of Men & Boys and Orchestra of St. Luke's at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. 22 years ago, James MacMillian's Seven Last Words from the Cross received its World Premiere. Today, it is widely admired as one of MacMillan's finest achievements, and the piece has received hundreds of performances in some of the world's most important cultural centers. But in all of those 22 years, there has never been a performance of MacMillan's masterpiece in New York City. Until now. The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys presents the New York Premiere of Seven Last Words from the Cross by James MacMillan, along with The Last Discourse and Svyati by Sir John Tavener and Quemadmodum by John Taverner on Friday, March 18th at 7:30 PM at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, One West 53rd Street, New York, NY. Orchestra of St. Luke’s will be conducted by Guest Conductor David Hill. Soloists for this evening will be Sherezade Panthaki, soprano and Glenn Miller, bass.
