The Robert D. Lilley Award for Socially Responsible Engineering

The Robert D. Lilley Award for Socially Responsible Engineering is selected each spring by Dean of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science on the recommendation of the Office of Student Engagement. Student clubs may apply to receive the Lilley Award, which includes monetary support and is presented at the Kings Crown Leadership and Excellence Awards Ceremony in April.

Socially Responsible Engineering Activities and Projects

Examples of projects and activities that qualify for the Lilley Award include (but are not limited to)engineering projects in the developing world; engineering projects in economically and/or socially disadvantaged regions of the United States; campus education efforts (such as symposia or conferences) that focus on the connection between engineering innovation and betterment of the human condition; and student research projects specifically directed toward topics that demonstrate an explicit connection to the need for socially-responsible engineering practices and solutions in the modern world.

To apply, please provide a statement (250 words or less) demonstrating the group’s contribution to socially responsible engineering efforts to Walter Gerson Rodriguez. Deadline to apply for the 2014 award is Sunday, March 2, 2014.
