Student Engagement

An integrated co-curricular education assists Columbia students in developing a strong sense of connection to their classmates, to faculty and staff, and to their school or college. Student Engagement plays a pivotal role in shaping the student experience by partnering with students to build a strong sense of campus community.

Whether planning long standing campus traditions or creating and transforming new experiences, Student Engagement provides students with opportunities for involvement in campus life, helping them become a part of the Columbia community as they participate in community programming, and engage in campus, local and global communities.

As students join and lead student organizations on campus Student Engagement advisers assist them in their development as campus leaders and encourage them to set organizational goals and achieve their objectives.  Advisers offer advice and skill-building workshops to students as they propose new groups, lead organizations, plan events and enhance community on campus.
